Enough Navel Gazing!

I'm starting a pool: How long after El Capitan Castro kicks it until Havana goes back to the mob?

My money's on 12 months.

I'm going with 18 months. Fidel's Bro is going to have a bit of momentum at the outset, which I think will offset to a certain degree the internecine power-grabbing of the lower-eschelon commanders, so I'm guessing it'll take a bit longer than 12 months for the dust to settle, and the bodies to be counted.

But, in any event, I'm looking forward to celebrating my 48th Birthday with a LEGAL Partagas Charlotta...

Oh, Fidel's kicking around, I'm sure...I don't think he'll make it around the sun a couple more times, though.

Please allow me to correct myself, in an ideal James Ellroy world, sure, expat mobsters are flying in post haste, more than likely for infiltration purposes.

I just don't think, they would be that effective until they have a localized movement. Anything shy of that would turn the Americas against us, and while we're mighty powerful, I really don't think we'd want to instigate World War III.B

This is more black ops than not.

Hypothetically speaking, of course.

Alls I gots to say is...

Sure, why would the US want a bunch of moral relativists that care only for the dinero in Havana? And, no way is that a populace that has been conditioned to be happy when the trains run on time, metaphorically speaking.

Castro is the only one who has kept his middle finger planted firmly vertical at the US, but he also hasn't presided over paradise. Cuba is fucking ripe, dude, and BushCo never seen a line they didn't snort.
